This year, Pawlooza 2019, early morning thunderstorms might have reduced numbers to the festival – that usually sees about 25,000 people and 6,000 dogs blanket the Plunkett Estate donated for the day so dogs can run into the large pond and stream and vendors set up tents over the sprawling property that includes a dog agility barn, 27-car garage, horse stable and golf course.

Animals are pulled from shelters, or saved from puppy mills, and fostered until forever homes area found.

Chez Piggy, one of Kingston, Ontario’s favourite restaurants, is dog friendly – outside in the courtyard, which frankly is where you want to be on a warm summer day. Because this restaurant is a converted limestone stable and originally zoned to contain animals, the site pre-dates many provincial laws and therefore permission to allow pets is grandfathered, making Chez Piggy exempt from Ontario’s ‘no dogs on patios’ laws.
