February *, 2024 – Pups for Paws, Markham, Ontario

Pups for Paws is a fun day for dogs and their people with photo booth, indoor dog run, and vendors. Entrance is $10 for one dog and one person. Benefits Save Our Scruff dog rescue. Valley Gardens, 8636 Reeser Road, Markham, Ontario. 12 to 4 pm.

April *, 2024 – Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Kichener, Guelph, and London, Windsor, and Hamilton, Ontario

The annual canine Easter Egg Hunt is back again and held on Good Friday in five cities across Ontario (along with Calgary, Alberta). This is an annual fundraising event for National Service Dogs (NSD) – thousands of plastic eggs containing prizes and dog treats are scattered in fields for pups and their people to find. Advanced registration is $25, or $30 at the door. Registration starts at 10 and the hunt begins at 11 am. Locations: Knollwood Park, Kitchener; Centennial Park, Guelph; Plunkett Estates, London; Joe Sam’s Leisure Park, Hamilton; and Malden Park, Windsor.

March 29, 30, 31, 2024 – Spring Canadian Pet Expo, Mississauga, Ontario

Toronto looks forward to the annual Spring Canadian Pet Expo. This pet-related trade show is held annually Easter Weekend at the International Centre near the Toronto airport. Pets are welcome, and it’s host to Canada’s largest Cat Show, Dog Lovers Days Lure Courses, Aqua Dogs Dock Diving and Canine Stars Stunt Dog performances. April *, 2024 – Woofs and Wine, Toronto, Ontario

Enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting with your dog at Sips Toronto , snacks, and of course wine. At 2 pm, your dog will meet with other puppies. Then enjoy snacks and taste four different wines from Argentina. Presented by Toronto Dog Moms, 20 Maud Street, Toronto. $115 per ticket.

April 21, 2024 – Westies in Need Indoor Pawty Play Day, Mono (Orangeville), Ontario

Westies in Need Rescue invites you to the Westie Indoor Play Day! This is the Indoor Pawty Play Day event with lots of space for your dog to run around and have fun off-leash while you check out the fabulous sales table. Westies in Need Rescue always have great stuff for sale.  Join the group for a good run around with other Westies and Westie Wannabes at the Orangeville Fairgrounds, 247090 Side R 5, Mono, Ontario. 1:30 to 4 pm. April *, 2024 – Jack Russell Terrier Club of Canada Fun Day, Ashburn, Ontario

Open to all dogs, the Jack Russell Terrier Club of Canada’s fun day promises ‘everyday we’re russelling.’ This day particularly includes activities Jacks or any active dogs will love: ball retrieval, barn ratting, brush hunting, show ring grooming, lure courses, and rally-obedience. Fundraising raffle table and food trucks on site. $30 per dog ($15 for every extra dog) for all-day participation. 740 Brawley Road West, Asburn (Whitby), Ontario.

May 1, 2024 (and every weekend until Sept. 1, 2024) – Dog Days of Summer, Clear Creek (Norfolk County), Ontario

Found a friend while docked at McDonald Island in the 1000 Islands

Hounds of Erie Winery, a popular Norfolk County stop for dog people, is reviving the Dog Days of Summer breed meet-up events throughout the summer. Each Sunday, the cider and winery producer hosts a different breed (and mix) event among the vines beginning with a breed-specific meetup May 1, but everyone and every dog is welcome at all meet-ups, however, preregistration (free) is required. 10 am to 6 pm. May *, 2024 – Truckin’ Tuesdays Pet Night, Cambridge, Ontario

The annual summer Truckin’ Tuesdays food truck event at St. Lukes United Church parking lot kicks off the season with a special Pet Night in partnership with Miss Dixie’s Foundation. Bring your dog to this food truck event featuring El Milagro Food Truck, Fo’ Cheezy Food, SWAT, and the Funnel Cloud. May *, 2024 – Petapolooza, Pickering, Ontario

A festival that brings together pet enthusiasts, local vendors, trainers and rescues. Entertainment by Super Dogs and give-aways. The event is a fundraiser to help build a permanent animal shelter in the area. 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is $5. Esplanade Park, 1 The Esplanade, Pickering, Ontario.

May *, 2024 – Catch-a-Treat Fundraiser, Cornwall, Ontario

Need an interesting photo of your dog? I mean another interesting photo of your dog? Here’s you chance to get an image of your dog catching a treat in mid-air. Unleash Pet Photography is bringing their mobile pet photography studio to PetSmart in Cornwall. For $57 ($10 going to the OSPCA) per session for a digital image. 9 am to 6 pm. Tickets here. May to October, 2024 – Picks and Pingle’s Summer Festival, Hampton, Ontario

Although not specifically a pet event, the outdoor Picks and Pingle’s Summer Festival is dog friendly (except for the corn fields and apple orchards)! Pick your own corn, wildflowers, and apples depending on season. Well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome for $5 extra. 9 am to 4 pm each day – Tuesday to Sunday. Admission is $7 per person weekdays, $10 weekends and an extra $5 for dogs. Pringle’s Farm Market, 1805 Taunton Rd, Hampton, Ontario.

May *, 2024 – Paws on the Trail, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario

Join other dogs along the 4 km trail for a fundraiser in support of the Upper Canada Heritage Trail. Canine fun is promised along with a dog communicator, photographer, and kissing booth. First 25 ticket holders will receive a gift bag. Up to 2 leashed dogs per ticket. Tickets are $50. Memorial Park Veterans’ Way Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. 9 am to noon.

May *, 2024 – Toronto Pet Value Walk for Guide Dogs, Toronto, Ontario

One of two fundraising events this weekend for guide dogs – this is a walk-a-thon style fundraising event for Lions Foundation of Canada Guide Dogs. Registration starts at 5:30 pm and the walk starts at 6:30 pm. High Park, (Bloor Street Entrance), Toronto, Ontario.

May *, 2024 – Pet Palooza, Brantford, Ontario

Pet Palooza in a fundraising festival for the Brant County SPCA. Fun includes pet and food vendors, bouncy castles, dog lure course, woof jocks canine all stars, and reptile show. Admission is $10. The Brantford Civic Centre, 79 Market Street South, Brantford. 10 am to 5 pm.

May *, 2024 – Mission Pawsible Walk – Oakville, Ontario

All Paws on Deck for Mission Pawsible, a 1 km walk around Bronte Creek Provincial Park in Oakville – a park with two leash-free dog zones! The dog walking event is part of a larger race for people (without dogs) and a fundraiser for the Oakville & Milton Human Society. But the dog walk starts at 10:30 am sharp. Pre-registration is required. Participation is by donation starting at $25. 1219 Burloak Drive, Oakville, Ontario.

May *, 2024 – Oakville Pet Value Walk for Guide Dogs, Oakville, Ontario

Collect pledges, make a donation, and register – this is a walk-a-thon style fundraising event for Lions Foundation of Canada Guide Dogs. Registration starts at 10 am and the walk starts at 11 am. Canada Guide Dogs Training Centre, 152 Wilson Street, Oakville, Ontario.

June 1, 2024 – Unleash Pet Fest, Cornwall, Ontario

Unleash Pet Fest is Cornwall’s first pet festival and promises to be a fun day for the whole family. The fundraising event for five local pet rescues begins with a pet parade ending at the Pet Market with more than 40 local pet supply vendors, an obstacle course, a kissing booth, and an animal show. The event will take place in an empty parking lot at the corner of Pitt and First Street near Cornwall Square, Cornwall, Ontario. 11 am to 5 pm. Free admission.

June 3 & 4 , 2023 – Woof-a-Palooza, Vaughn, Ontario

Bring your dog to this in-person outdoor pet fun event – Woof-a-Palooza is full of pet exhibitors and vendors, lure course, off-leash play zone, and even a ‘lazy lawn’ fun zone. June *, 2024 – Pack and Field Day, Kitchener, Ontario

Remember track and field days? The Dog Friendly KW team is organizing the Pack and Field Day along with The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo Stratford Perth where your pup can try a lure course, agility, and scavenger hunt and you can shop vendors. Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society, 250 Riverbend Drive, Kitchener, 11 am to 5 pm.

June *, 2024 – Homeward Bound Canine Carnival, Bowmanville, Ontario

Homeward Bound Rescue sponsors the annual Canine Carnival that includes Dock Diving, K9 fit workouts, Agility Demonstrations, weight pulling, Annual Doggie Fashion Show and Costume Contest and of course many vendors. June *, 2024 – Bark in the Park, London, Ontario

The 35th annual fundraiser for the London Human Society includes Dog lure course, Sparky’s dock diving, Ultimutts Stunt Dog performances, Cruisin’ Paws Agility shows, Off-leash pond area, Bouncy castles, Silent auction, 50/50 Raffle and dozens of unique product and food vendors. June 1, 2023 – Pet Lovers’ Market, Ancaster, Ontario

The semi-annual Pet Lovers’ Market features handcrafted items, art and homemade pet treats is on at the Ancaster Fairgrounds in 2021. Available are accessories, treats and healthcare products. June *, 2024 – DOG FESTIVAL, Sarnia, Ontario

Hosted by The Fox and Hound Canine Retreat and sponsored by Coldwell Banker Southwest Realty, this pet festival is a benefit for the Sarnia & District Humane Society and CB Homes for Dogs Project. June 8, 2024 – Arbour Dog Races, Port Dover, Ontario

First annual Arbor Dog Races sponsored by The Arbor and the Port Dover Harbour Museum. Sign up via email (portdover.museum@norfolkcounty.ca) to participate in the races for $5 per dog or the costume contest for $2 per dog. Races include a dachshund race and a Heinz 57 race. 11 am to 2:30 pm. Arrive at 11 am to participate in the parade down the pier. Riverfront Park, Port Dover, Ontario.

June *, 2024 – Wienerfest Home County Festival, Woodstock, Ontario

All breeds and kinds of dogs are welcome at the Wienderfest Home County Festival but the star is dachshunds – wiener dog races, events and even a weinermobile sighting are promised. Many local vendors will be in attendance too. Proceeds go to local rescues and Dachshunds in Need. Well-mannered leashed dogs (no flexi-leashes) only please. 9:30 am to 4 pm. Admission is free. June 22 & 23, 2024 – The Muddy Paws Wine Trail, Niagara Region, Ontario

For those who remember the Muddy Paws events of the past, guess what? They just got bigger! Now four wineries have joined forces to create the best weekend canine wine event in the region. Visit Sue Ann Staff Winery, Westcott Vineyards, Featherstone and Vineland Estates June 24 to 25 to experience dog-friendly activities, wine, and live music at each winery. June 22, 2024 – Annual Ruff Mudder, Collingwood, Ontario

The Annual Ruff Mudder Canine Obstacle Adventure 5km obstacle course for you and your dog is on again. That’s right, you can run a 5k with your dog over 80+ obstacles through forest and field. It’s not a race but an experience. Pre-registration is required.  $60 per person for Mudder, 4 for $120 and a pack of 10 is $500. Par 6725 Hwy 26, Stayner, Ontario.

June *, 2024 – Woofa Roo Pet Fest, Essex County, Ontario

Promoted as Essex County’s only pet and family-friendly festival, Woofa Roo Pet Fest is down days of Dock Diving, Flex Ball, dog agility, pony rides, vendors and more. A silent auction supports local rescue organizations. Admission is only $5. The Libro Complex, 3295 Meloche Road, Amberstburg, Ontario.

June *, 2024- Ottawa Pet Expo, Ottawa, Ontario

Ottawa’s largest pet-friendly event is the Ottawa Pet Expo with over 200 exhibitors representing all types of pets. TICA cat show, fly ball competitions and expert vets and breeders onsite. EY Centre, 4899 Uplands Drive, Ottawa. Admission is $15 per adult (savings online) and parking is $8.

July *, 2024 – Dogtona 500, Norfolk County, Ontario

Hounds of Erie Winery is again hosting this annual event for dog lovers and those who love their Top Dog hard cider. (If you don’t yet, you will). This is a dog-friendly festival among the winery vines with vendors, food trucks, dog races, and of course wine and cider tastings. $10 admission. July *, 2024 – Muskoka Pet Fest, Huntsville, Ontario

The Muskoka Pet Fest is a summertime pet festival with more than 40 vendors, music and food, an agility course, doggie daycare, and petting zoo. Admission is $10 and supports local rescues. Huntsville Fairgrounds, 407 Ravenscliff Road, Huntsville. 10 am to 5 pm. Dogs welcome.

July 20, 2024 – PAWS-itively Elgin Pupper Festival, Aylmer, Ontario

Pawsitively Elgin Pupper Festival is a dog-friendly event in support of local rescues sponsored by Pawsitively Elgin and Event Partner Elgin Feeds Country Store. Come out and enjoy Dock Dogs, Lure Course, Agility Details Dog Training, Aylmer Disc Dogs, the Flying Furballs and more. As usual, tons of vendors promised exhibitors including animal rescues, food, nonprofits plus our Kid Entrepreneurs. 8079 Springwater Conservation Area, 47719 Conservation Line, Aylmer. 9 am to 4 pm. $12 per car load or $5 per walk-in.  We’ve been there! July *, 2024 – Meaford Pet Expo, Meaford, Ontario

July *, 2024 – 1000 Islands Bark Bash, Gananoque, Ontario

The annual 1000 Islands Bark Bash celebrates all things dogs. Meet rescue groups, vendors, dog demonstrations and displays. Admission free. 10 am to 3 pm. July 27 and 28, 2024 – Pet Fest, Dorchester, Ontario

Dorchester Pet Fest is an annual pet festival (last weekend every July) celebrating all things pet now two days long! pets in carriers and dogs on-leash are permitted to attend. This festival features local vendors, food, rescues, demonstrations, free lure course, craft beer and spirits and a kids’ zone. Dorchester Fair Grounds, 4939 Hamilton Road, Dorchester, Ontario. 10 am to 5 pm. $10 per person ($5 kids under 16, free for those under 2).

National Sheep Dog Trials, Kingston, Ontario

August 9 to 11, 2024 – Kingston Sheep Dog Trials Festival, Kingston, Ontario

Three days of sheepdog events, trials, and competitions herding sheep. The festival part is resuming in 2023 and will look like this again: other doggie attractions including Canadian Canine Lure Course, zoo-like animal encounters at “Zoo to You,” Rideau River Dock Dogs, agility, K-9 demos and crafts and vendors. $15 or $10 for tickets online. www.kingstonsheepdogtrials.com Grass Creek Park, 2993 Highway 2 East, Kingston. August 17, 2024 – Hugs for Hounds, Cambridge, Ontario

Hugs for Hounds is a fundraiser for several Canadian Sighthound groups. Meet several types of sighthounds here, including Greyhounds, Whippets, and Saluki. Festivities include on-site vendors, BBQ, agility demos, and silent auction. Non-aggressive leashed leashed dogs welcome. No retractable leashes. Preregistration is $5 for the event and $35 for the dinner.. Waterloo Regional Police Association and Recreation Centre, 1128 Rife Road, Cambridge, Ontario. 10 am to 5 pm.

** 2024 – Tails of the Mountain Festival, Grey Highlands, Ontario

Second annual Tails of the Mountain Pet Festival featuring pet-related vendors and animal rescue groups – all on The Farmer’s House, a scenic 100-acre property in the Grey Highlands area. August *, 2024 – Top Dog Wine & Wags Festival, Clear Creek, Ontario

Top Dog Wine & Wags Festival is in its 5th year at Hounds of Erie Winery. Free entry to the event includes local vendors, food truck, cider and wine tastings available, and fenced, off-leashed dog area. For $30 pre-registration you get a photo shoot in the vineyard, 2 tasting tickets, and additional activities. 377 7th Concession Road, ENR, Clear Creek, Ontario.

August *, 2024 – Paws in the Park, Toronto, Ontario

Paws in the Park is the largest annual fundraiser for the Toronto Humane Society – the focus of the day is the puppy parade in the morning. There are a few vendors but the point is the walk-a-thon fundraiser. Pre-registration required. 1695 Queen Street E., Woodbine Park, Toronto, Ontario.

August *, 2024 – Pawcasso’s Studio Pup Event, Hamilton, Ontario

This isn’t a festival, but a unique fundraiser dog event. Pawcasso’s Studio is a pop-up event. Select a pre-painted canvas and have your dog’s paw prints incorporated into the painting. Each painting costs a set fee and is a fundraiser for The Bello Project which takes care of the pets of people with terminal illnesses. 10 am to 3 pm. Confederation Park, 680 Waterfront Trail, Hamilton, Ontario.

August *, 2024 – Pawpawlooza, Hampton, Ontario

Pawpawlooza is a dog-friendly event with vendors and raffles at Furry Friends Pet Resort, 5455 Langmaid Rd, Hampton, Ontario. 10 am to 2 pm. Admission free. A benefit for the Clarington Animal Shelter.

August 17, 2024 – London Pawlooza, London, Ontario

Honouring International Homeless Animal Day and a fundraiser for a local animal shelter. Held annually at The Plunkett Estate, 9282 Elviage Drive, London, Ontario. August *, 2024 – Annual Sunflowers in Bloom Market, Whitby, Ontario

Not exclusively a pet festival, but it is dog-friendly (on a leash): the 2nd Annual Sunflowers in Bloom Market & Singing Competition (for people, not dogs I assume). Local vendors, food, photo booth, and fresh-cut flowers. Likely, a good opportunity to get good pics with your dog in the flowers. Ashburn View Property, 7632 Ashburn Road, Whitby, Ontario. 11 am to 4 pm both days.

August *, 2024 – Paws in the Park, Stratford, Ontario

Paws in the Park is an annual fundraiser for the Stratford Perth Humane Society. A full day of fun including vendors, kids activities, a food truck and talent show. Admission is free but it’s $25 to enter the talent show. Stratford Centre, 125 Griffith Rd., Stratford, Ontario. 10 am to 5 pm.

August *, 2024 – Pups and Pours, Lincoln, Ontario

Indigo ad

A fundraiser for Ladybird Animal Sanctuary, Pups and Pours is an afternoon of gin cocktails, live jazz, craft vendors, pet supply vendors, and cute dogs. Dogs are welcome on leash. Dillon’s Distillery, 4833 Tufford Road, Lincoln, Ontario. Noon to 5 pm.

August *, 2024 – Chatham-Kent Animal Rescue & Doggy Dip, Chatham, Ontario

During the final weekend of the season, the Chatham-Kent pool and splash pad is open for dog fun. Tennis balls provided. 12 to 3 pm. Orville Wright Community Poll, 164 King Street E., Chatham-Kent, Ontario. $10 per dog for a half hour. $25 for unlimited access.

August *, 2024 – Barks & Brews, Etobicoke, Ontario

Local marketplace, food vendors, dog obstacle course and more including a meet and greet of adoptable dogs from Fetch& Releash dog rescue. Great Lakes Brewery, 30 Queen Elizabeth Blvd., Etobicoke, Ontario. Noon to 4 pm. Dog-friendly event. Free Admission.

Everything-Dog: Living Your Best Life with your Dog is hosting a paw print ornament event in the Harmony Valley Dog Park. The event is in partnership with Crock-A-Doodle and for $20 you’ll get to put your dog’s paw print and name on a 3-inch ornament. Register for a spot between 10 am and noon, but you’ll have to live near Oshawa or be willing to come back to the park.
