April 17, 2023 – Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs in Oakville, Brampton, Calgary (Alberta), Guelph, Kitchener, London, St.Catharines and Windsor, Ontario

A fundraiser for National Service Dogs, this annual event started in Oakville in 1998 and has spread to other cities on Good Friday every year. Participants collect pledges and are given two egg cartons to collect up to 24 plastic eggs containing dog treats. One leashed dog per participant welcome. $25 per family. www.nsd.on.ca

April 15 to 17, 2022 – Spring Canadian Pet Expo, Mississauga, Ontario

Found a friend while docked at McDonald Island in the 1000 Islands

Toronto looks forward to the annual Spring Canadian Pet Expo. This pet related trade show is held annually Easter Weekend at the International Centre near the Toronto airport. Pets are welcome, and it’s host to Canada’s largest Cat Show, Ontario Cavy Club Show, Jock Dogs, Dog Lovers Days Lure Course and Air Dog performances. May 1, 2023 (and every weekend until Sept. 1, 2023) – Dog Days of Summer, Clear Creek (Norfolk County), Ontario

Hounds of Erie Winery, a popular Norfolk County stop for dog people, is reviving the Dog Days of Summer breed meet up events throughout the summer. Each Sunday, the cider and winery producer hosts a different breed (and mix) event among the vines beginning with a breed-specific meetup May 1, but everyone and every dog is welcome at all meet ups, however, preregistration (free) is required. 10 am to 6 pm. May 6 to 7, 2023 – KW Pet Expo, Kitchener, Ontario

Bring your dog to the dog to this expo focusing on primarily vendors but presentations too from Canine Good Neighbour, Woof Jocks and a pet costume contest. Saturday 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex, 400 East Ave., Kitchener. www.kwpetexpo.com Check out what we bought at the first KW expo.

May *, 2023 – Picks and Pingle’s Spring Market, Hampton, Ontario

Although not specifically a pet event, the outdoor Picks and Pingle’s Spring Market is dog friendly! The outdoor walkabout market featuring local vendors kicks off asparagus season. Late May, you can pick your asparagus (sold by weight). Well behaved leashed dogs are welcome. 9 am to 4 pm each day. Admission is $5 per person – the is an extra fee for dogs. May 28, 2022 – Party 4 Paws Pet Fair, Toronto, Ontario (Rain date: May 29, 2022)

Bring your dog to the outdoor Party 4 Paws Pet Fair benefiting animal rescues. Shop from many local vendors for pet related products, meet celebrity pets, and maybe adopt a cat or dog. Noon to 6 pm. Free admission. Trinity Bellwoods Park, 790 Queen Street W., Toronto.

May 29, 2022 – Dog Day Bash 2022, Hamilton, Ontario

Grain & Grit small batch beer brewery in Hamilton hosts a series of events including their annual Dog Day Bash when the parking fills with pet-focused vendors, dogs and their people, and of course glasses of beer. Enjoy a brew with your pup. Benefit for Ladybird Sanctuary. Noon to 6pm. 11 Ewen Road, Hamilton, Ontario.

June – Furry Friends 5K, Oshawa, Ontario CANCELLED for 2020. No event scheduled for 2021 or 2022 yet)

One of three annual runs, Furry Friends 5K dog-friendly race (walk or run) that you can participate in with your pup. The event supports local animal rescue groups, shelters, and humane groups. (If you can’t make the event, you can sponsor someone who is participating). Cost to participate with your dog is $45.

June 4, 2022 – Homeward Bound Canine Carnival, Bowmanville, Ontario

June 4, 2022 – Happy Paws Dog Care Services Open House Event, Mono, Ontario

Check out the Happy Paws Dog Care Services open house on June 4 (rain date June 18, 2022): mini photo shoots, charity raffle, nail trims available, and you can let your dog try rally, obedience, and agility. June 4, 2022 – Rescue Ruckus Dog Event, Colborne, Ontario

Rescue Ruckus Dog Event offers your dog a chance to try a number of dog sports or activities for one price that benefits a local rescue, specifically a rescue dog needing surgery. The event includes small dog racing, muskrat racing, a lure course in the morning, brush hunt, go-to-ground, small dog vision question in the afternoon, and a potluck lunch and raffle table. $20 for an play all day pass for one dog, or $5 event entry free. 9 am to 5 pm.

June 4, 2022 – DIBS Spring into Summer Pooch Party, Kitchener, Ontario

DIBS (dogs in better spots) dog rescue is hosting a Spring into Summer Pooch Party street festival along Gaukel Street in Kitchener. Vendors, including food vendors, open at noon. There will be live music, photo scavenger hunt, 45 walk/parade downtown, and a late afternoon pack walk through Victoria Park. 12 to 5pm. Free admission.

June 5, 2022 – Pet Lovers’ Market, Ancaster, Ontario

The semi-annual Pet Lovers’ Market features handcrafted items, art and homemade pet treats is on at the Ancaster Fairgrounds in 2021. Available are accessories, treats and healthcare products. Bring your dog and try the DogLoversDays Lure Course. Admission is $5 per person at the door. Cash only. 10 am to 5 pm. Ancaster Fairgrounds, 630 Trinity Rd., S., Jerseyville, Ontario. Free parking.

June 11 and 12, 2022 – Woof-a-Palooza, Vaughn, Ontario

Bring you dog to this in-person outdoor pet fun event – Woof-a-Palooza is full of pet exhibitors and vendors, lure course, off-leash play zone, and even a ‘lazy lawn’ fun zone. Woodbridge Fairgrounds, 100 Porter Ave., Vaughn. Admission is $10. Free Parking. Dog friendly. 10 am to 4 pm Saturday and 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

June 12, 2022 – Bark in the Park, London, Ontario

The 35th annual fundraiser for the London Human Society includes: Dog lure course, Sparky’s dock diving, Ultimutts Stunt Dog performances, Cruisin’ Paws Agility shows, Off-leash pond area, Bouncy castles, Silent auction, 50/50 Raffle and dozens of unique product and food vendors. Admission is $20.  Plunkett Estate, 9282 Elviage Drive, London. 10 am to 4 pm.

June 25, 2022 – Wienerfest Home County Festival, Woodstock, Ontario

All breeds and kinds of dogs are welcome at the Wienerfest Home County Festival, but the star is dachshunds – wiener dog races, events and even a weinermobile sighting are promised. Many local vendors will be in attendance too. Proceeds go to Tiny Paws Dog Rescue and Dachshunds in Need. Well-mannered leashed dogs (no flexi-leashes) only please. 9:30 am to 4 pm. June 25 and 26, 2022 – Woofa Roo Pet Fest, Essex County, Ontario

Promoted as Essex County’s only pet and family-friendly festival, Woofa Roo Pet Fest is down days of Dock Diving, Flex Ball, dog agility, pony rides, vendors and more. A silent auction supports local rescue organizations. Admission is only $5. The Libro Complex, 3295 Meloche Road, Amberstburg, Ontario.

July 9, 2022 – Muskoka Pet Fest – Huntsville, Ontario

The Muskoka Pet Fest is a summertime pet festival with more than 40 vendors, music and food, agility course, doggie daycare and petting zoo. Admission is $10 and supports local rescues. Huntsville Fairgrounds, 407 Ravenscliff Road, Huntsville. 10 am to 5 pm. Dogs welcome.

July 9, 2022- Big Country Fair – Smithville, Ontario

Big Country Raw pet food company is celebrating its 10th anniversary with an afternoon festival featuring new Big Country Raw products (of course), food for pets and people, a lure course, and book signing by Rodney Habib author of “The Forever Dog.” 6159 Spring Creek Rd, Smithville, Ontario. Limited parking. Free. 10 am to 2 pm.

July 16, 2022 – Christmas in July, Peterborough, Ontario

Christmas in July festival is hosted by K9 in Motion Wellness with 75 vendors, dog nail trims, and photos with Santa and intended to raise money for guide dogs. Lions Community Centre, 347 Burnham St., Peterborough, Ontario. 10 am to 4 pm.

July 19, 2022 – Kawigga Country Market, Tottendam, Ontario

Public event at the Kawigga Country Market store – BBQ for everyone, free dog lure course. Bring your dog. Sponsored by Kawigga Pet Products. 1629 19th Sideroad, Tottenham, Ontario. 10 am to 3 pm. Fee admission.

July 22, 2023 – PAWS-itively Elgin Pupper Festival – Aylmer, Ontario

Pawsitively Elgin Pupper Festival is a dog-friendly event in support of local rescues sponsored by Pawsitively Elgin and Event Partner Elgin Feeds Country Store. Come out and enjoy Dock Dogs, Lure Course, Agility Details Dog Training, Aylmer Disc Dogs, the Flying Furballs and more. As usual, tons of vendors promised exhibitors including animal rescues, food, nonprofits plus our Kid Entrepreneurs. 8079 Springwater Conservation Area, 47719 Conservation Line, Aylmer. 9 am to 4 pm. $12 per car load or $5 per walk in.  We’ve been there! July 23, 2022- 1000 Islands Bark Bash, Gananoque, Ontario

The annual 1000 Islands Bark Bash celebrates all things dogs. Meet rescue groups, vendors, dog demonstrations and displays. Admission free. 10 am to 4 pm. Gananoque Town Park, 30 King Street E., Gananoque, Ontario. 1000 Islands is a great place to take the dog for the weekend too – check out our experience.

July 23, 2022 – Canine Haven @ Collective Arts Fundraiser, Hamilton, Ontario

Stop by and have a beer at the Canine Haven Rescue fundraiser. Two vendors: Murphy’s Treats and Brandless Rescue Gear plus 50/50 draw. Collective Arts Brewers, 207 Burlington Street, East, Hamilton. 12 to 6 pm.

July 30, 2022 – Pints and Paws Series, Toronto, Ontario

A dog-friendly shopping event focused on pet vendors and sponsored by Toronto Dog Moms. Dog’s Life Studio photographers will be there. Henderson Brewing Co., 128 A Sterling Road, Toronto. Admission free. 1 to 5 pm.

Summer 2023 (cancelled until 2023) – Meaford Pet Expo, Meaford, Ontario

Enjoy the 3rd annual Meaford Pet Expo with more than 25 vendors, samples and give-aways, pet adoptions, nail trims, pet play zone and training advice. Canadian Pet Connections, 278 Cook Street #8, Meaford, Ontario. 10 am to 4 pm. Dog-friendly.

National Sheep Dog Trials, Kingston, Ontario

August 5 to 7, 2022 – Kingston Sheep Dog Trials Festival, Kingston, Ontario

Three days of sheep dog events, trials and competitions herding sheep ONLY in 2021. August 6, 2022- Tails of the Mountain Festival, Grey Highlands, Ontario

Second annual Tails of the Mountain Pet Festival featuring pet related vendors and animal rescue groups – all on a The Farmer’s House, a scenic 100-acre property in the Grey Highlands area. August 13, 2022 – Hugs for Hounds, North Dumfries, Ontario

Check out the event and meet many sighthounds including greyhounds, whippets, and saluki. Other non-aggressive leashed dogs welcome during Hugs for Hounds in Elora. Enjoy the festival and barbeque at 6pm – advanced tickets are recommended and receive a swag bag. A silent auction and live art auction are also planned. August 14, 2022 – August Market and Dog Event, Barrie, Ontario

The August Market and Dog Event at the Doggie Licious Training and Event Centre is sponsor this event on eight acres with vendors, picture trail, ball pit, photo booth, treat tasting, and dog training fun. Free admission. 10 am to 2 pm. 8327 6 Line, Barrie, Ontario.

August 14, 2022 – Paws in the Park, Stratford, Ontario

Paws in the Park is a annual fundraiser for the Kitchener/Waterloo Human Society taking place at the Stratford, Ontario dog park – one of our favourite so far (check out our dog-friendly Stratford experience). Outdoor water activities, games, crafts, and food trucks. $20 minimum admission per dog (includes a swag bag – $35 gets you a t-shirt). 10 am to 2 pm. August 13 and 14, 2022 – Top Dog – Wags and Wine, Norfolk County, Ontario

Hounds of Erie Winery is again hosting this annual event for dog lovers and those who love their Top Dog hard cider. (If you don’t yet, you will). This is a dog-friendly festival among the winery vines with vendors, food trucks, photo opportunities, and of course wine and cider tastings. August 19, 2023 – London Pawlooza, London, Ontario

August 20, 2022 – Dog Festival, Sarnia, Ontario

Dog Festival is sponsored by CB Southwest, Sarnia & District Humane Society and takes place at The Fox & Hound Canine Retreat. Dock Diving, OPP Canine Unit Demos, pet merch vendors, food vendors, and adoptable dogs. Dogs welcome. Admission is $10. 2437 Michigan Line, Sarnia, Ontario. 10 am to 4 pm.

August 20, 2022 – Pet Fest, Dorchester, Ontario

Pet Fest is a new pet festival celebrating all things pet, but only dogs on leash are permitted to attend. This festival features local vendors, food, rescues, demonstrations and a kids zone. Dorchester Fair Grounds, 4939 Hamilton Road, Dorchester, Ontario. 10 am to 4 pm. $10 per car load and $2 for walk ins.

August 26, 2022 – Puppies & Pinot, Port Rowan, Ontario

Another popular dog event at Hounds of Erie Winery bring your dogs to the winery where there’s a fenced leash free dog area to sit at a picnic table with your pup. This weekend, there’ll be 30 plus vendors, swag bags, and cider tastings. Accepting donations for the Simcoe District Humane Society. 11 am to 3 pm. August 26, 2022 – Bow Wow Luau, St Jacobs, Ontario

Join Spoil the Dog Bakery at Stone Crock Restaurant for the Bow Wow Luau under the big tent at the Jacobs Grill for an outdoor event including BBQ, baked goods, dog treats, doggie pool play, and photobooth. 1396 King Street North, St. Jacobs. 11:30 am to 8 pm.

August 26 to 28, 2022 – Annual Ruff Mudder, Collingwood, Ontario

The Annual Ruff Mudder Canine Obstacle Adventure 5km obstacle course for you and your dog is on again. That’s right, you can run a 5k with your dog over 80+ obstacles through forest and field. It’s not a race but an experience. Pre-registration is required.  $60 per person for Mudder, 4 for $120 and a pack of 10 is $500. Par 6725 Hwy 26, Stayner, Ontario.

August 27, 2022 – Chatham-Kent Animal Rescue & Doggy Dip, Chatham, Ontario

During the final weekend of the season, the Chatham-Kent pool and splash pad is open for dog fun. Tennis balls provided. Small dogs 12 to 1:30 pm and large dogs 1 to 2:30 pm. Orville Wright Community Poll, 164 King Street E., Chatham-Kent, Ontario. $10 per dog.

September 4, 2022 – Doggie Dip, Oakville, Ontario

If your pup loves water, here’s another option for a doggie swim. The Oakville & Milton Human Society is sponsoring a day in the pool to celebrate the end of the summer season. Participants must prepurchase a time slot and play is limited to 30 minutes per dogy. Small dogs only at noon. $25 per dog. 12 to 4:30 pm. Lions Pool, 159 Felan Ave., Ontario.

September 10, 2022 – Pooch Plunge, Burlington, Ontario

Pooch Plunge is a fundraiser for the Burlington Humane Society and gives your pup the opportunity to swim in a public pool with 130 tennis balls and receive a goodie bag from Ren’s. Vendors and local groomer offering nails trims for $10. Only dogs in the pool. Participants are asked to register for specific time slots based on dog size. Also registering participants must upload proof of canine vaccinations. $25 per dog and $10 for additional dogs. 1 to 5 pm, Nelson Pool, 4235 New Street, Burlington, Ontario.

September 10 and 11, 2022 – New ‘bark’et Pet Event, New Market, Ontario

New’barket’ is Newmarket’s family-friendly dog festival. Dog people will enjoy the selection of pet-related vendors, entertainment, activities, and music. Bring your dog for the Pooch Plunge, the dog-only swim at the Peter Gorman Outdoor Pool at $5 per dog – only the pool area is leash-free. 10 am to 4 pm. September 11, 2022 – Dash & Splash, Kitchener, Ontario

Dash & Splash is a popular annual fundraiser for the Kitchener Waterloo Human Society. Bring your dog to frolic in this public pool and splash pad. Kiwanis Park Pool, 1000 Kiwanis Park Drive, Kitchener, Ontario. 10 am to 4 pm. $15 per dog. Check out our fun time at Dash and Splash during previous years.

September 11, 2022 – Wiggle Waggle Walk – Your Way, Hamilton (Stoney Creek), Ontario

The annual Wiggle Waggle Walk fundraiser for the Hamilton-Burlington SPCA takes place in person this year and everyone is invited to register and participate in raising money for the Hamilton Burlington SPCA your way: walk, run, or pull. www.hbspca.com Check out our previous year’s fun here. September 14, 2022 – Barks and Brews Summer Finale, Kitchener, Ontario

Barks and Brews Yappy Hour, the final of the season is September 14 from 4:30 to 8 pm. Bring your dog along for a pint. Vendors, special guests, and onsite freebies are promised. TWB Brewery, 300 Mill Street, Kitchener.

September 17, 2022 – Woofs & Wine, Toronto, Ontario

Woofs & Wine is promoted as ‘an elevated wine experience with your dog.’ Organized by www.torontodogmoms.com. Tickets are $115 per person (dogs are free) and include a cocktail, 4 wine samples curated by a sommelier, snacks such as cheese and charcuterie, and dog treats from Treatoes. Starts at 5:30 pm, 20 Maud Street, Toronto. Advanced ticket purchase required.

September 18, 2022 – Indoor Rescue Walk and Fun Day, Mississauga, Ontario

Westies in Need Rescue invites you to the Westie Indoor Play Day! This is FUNdraising event with lots of space for your dog to run around and have fun off leash while you check out the fabulous sales table. Westies in Need Rescue always have great stuff for sale.  Join the group for a good run around with other Westies and Westie Wannabes at the Mississauga Valley Park, 1275 Mississauga Valley Blvd., Mississauga, Ontario.

September 17 to 18, 2022 – Fall Canadian Pet Expo, Toronto, Ontario

The Canadian Pet Expo is one of the biggest pet-themed festivals in Canada with more than 300 vendors, demonstrations, lure courses, and agility presentations – along with a purebred dog competition and reptile show. New this year is the aquatic expo section. See previous years here. 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday. International Centre, 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga (Toronto). Admission is $20 in advance. Free parking.

September 25, 2022 – Bark-toberfest, Grand Bend, Ontario

Join people and pups at the Pinery Market for craft beer, cider, wine and shopping at local vendors, eating at food trucks, and enjoying music – all with your dog. Vendors 9 am to 4 pm. Licensed serving area open 10 am to 5 pm. Pinery Market, 10163 Lakeshore Road, Grand Bend, Ontario. Admission $2 per person.

Canada’s best known dog festival, Woofstock, annual dog festival, this time at Woodbine Park in Toronto’s trendy beaches. Admission is free and dogs are of course welcome. Join tens of thousands of other pet lovers for this two-day event of vendors, demonstrations, fashion show and fun. Toronto, Woodbine Park, www.woofstock.ca. 10 am to 6 pm. Admission is $10.

October 1, 2022 – Barktoberfest Walk-a-thon, St. Catharines, Ontario

Barktoberfest is one of the most important fundraising events of the year for the Lincoln County Humane Society. Join other dog enthusiasts for this walk-a-thon through Burgoyne Woods. A 1 km or 5 km option is planned. (Also, there’s a great small and big leash-free dog park there). Friendly, leashed dogs welcome on the walk. Raffle, BBQ, and 50/50 draw. 10 am to 3 pm. Walk starts at 11 am. Register online with donations.

October 1 and 2, 2022- Ottawa Pet Expo, Ottawa, Ontario

Otawa’s largest pet-friendly event is the Ottawa Pet Expo with over 200 exhibitors representing all types of pets. TICA cat show, fly ball competitions and expert vets and breeders onsite. EY Centre, 4899 Uplands Drive, Ottawa. Admission is $15 per adult (savings online) and parking is $8.

October 2, 2023 – DoggieLicious May Market and Dog Event, Utopia (near Barrie)

November 19 and 20, 2022- Toronto Christmas Pet Show,  Mississauga, Ontario

Another Canadian Fall Pet Festival added to the growing list of pet expos happening in Toronto. Join a conference centre full of vendors, rescue organizations and demonstrations. November 26 to 27, 2022 – Ulti-Mutt Holiday Festival, Kitchener, Ontario

Downtown Kitchener’s first ever hyper-local, dog-friendly holiday festival at Carl Zehr Square, Downtown Kitchener.

December ?, 2022 – Pet Lovers’ Market, Ancaster, Ontario

The semi-annual Pet Lovers’ Market features handcrafted items, art and homemade pet treats is on at the Ancaster Fairgrounds in 2021. Available are accessories, treats and healthcare products. Bring your dog and try the DogLoversDays Lure Course. Pre-purchased timed tickets are required. Admission is $5 per person, 10 am to 5 pm. December ?, 2022 – Howlidays at Pingle’s Farms, Tauton, Ontario

As part of the farm’s annual tradition, Pingle’s Farm Market is hosting Howl-idays for Dogs On December 11th, each $10 Santa Paws ticket will come with a free pup cake and special dog vendors will be on-site. Admission for people is an additional $15. 9:30 am to 6:30 pm (last entry at 3:30pm). This is part of the farm’s annual Christmas Festival November 27 to December 9 am to 6 pm (last entry at 3 pm), Saturdays and Sundays. January 21 and 22, 2023 – PetExpo, Edmonton, Alberta

One of the city’s largest pet expos filled with vendors, breeders, rescue organizations and stage demonstrations. Pet Expo Edmonton is pet focused; however, not pet friendly so leave Fido at home. Saturday 10 am to 6 pm, Sunday 10 am to 5 pm. Edmonton Expo Centre. Admission $15.

May – Calgary Pet Expo, Calgary, Alberta (no 2022 date yet)

This is the weekend of the annual Calgary Pet Expo celebrating all things pets with plenty of vendors, demonstrations and shows. www.calgarypetexpo.com. People but no pets allowed. Spruce Meadows Equiplex, Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. free parking.

June 25, 2022 – Zulu K9 Challenge, Grande Prairie, Alberta

For very athletic people and pets, the Zulu K9 Challenge promises to be difficult, but not impossible. Curious? The Zulu K9 Challenge is a 5 to 10km race with 20 obstacles testing strength, durability and creativity (people’s not dog’s). Yes, a dog is required for this Zulu event and so are harnesses and hands-free leashes. South Bear Creek, 100 Street, Grande Prairie, Alberta. July 23 & 24, 2022 – PetaPalooza West Tour 2021, Calgary, Alberta

MANITOBA

June 6, 2023 – Manitoba Pet Expo, Winnipeg, Manitoba [CANCELLED in 2020 – no date for 2022]

What started as a grassroots effort by the non-profit Boston Terrier and Pug Rescue of Southern Manitoba, the Manitoba Pet Expo has grown into a large annual province-focused pet expo and trade show featuring business vendors and many local rescues. Admission is $3 per person. St. Norbert Community Centre, 3450 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg. 10 am to 3 pm.
