Tips, Treats, and Technology! Back to SuperZoo to find out what’s new in the pet industry

This week, we’re taking a pause from revisiting all the pet-friendly places we’ve travelled to this summer. Why? Because after a two-year break, I’m headed back to Las Vegas, Nevada, specifically to attend SuperZoo 2022.

SuperZoo is an annual pet industry extravaganza – well, trade show actually but it has a circus, meets zoo, meets commerce vibe to it because what other industry has this much fury, fuzzy, and feathery representation?

SuperZoo is where pet industry retailers, groomers, and professionals go to learn what’s new and to ultimately stock retail shelves with the best pet treats, pet products, and latest technology … and maybe a few fury celebrities too.

Clever SuperZoo Pet Products 2016

I first went to SuperZoo in 2016 and was overwhelmed by the breath of the pet industry. Innovation is the name of the game and that’s where we discovered interesting products that solve problems, such as mobility issues – improvements to canine wheel carts was at its peak – and SilliDog dog tags made of rubber that doesn’t clank as your pup runs.

Fun fact, my dog Victoria has at least eight SilliDog tags in different shapes and colours, coordinating with funky collars, of course.

The following year, in 2017, we had a better idea of what to expect and focused on unique practical pet products with a twist. We took home for review a Pooch Planet orthopedic dog bed, which served my aging dog, Victor, well. Also, I loved the colours of Loving Pets Le BOL – both products are still very much in use at my home today.

Pet Play SuperZoo Pet 2018 and 2019

Sara Carson with trick dog Hero

Everything was still innocent fun at SuperZoo 2018 and again in 2019. I focused on finding fun, colourful toys, and meeting entertaining dog trainer, Sara Carson and her entertaining pup Hero, fresh from appearances at America’s Got Talent Season 12. These are also the years alternative proteins, including crickets, started making their way into pet treats.

Then, the event was cancelled in 2020 and significantly scaled down in 2021. Although travel, especially cross-border travel, is still rocky, a two-year absence was two years too much and I’m back to checking out SuperZoo 2022 – hopefully, safely and securely.

CONTEST! Win a box of my dog’s favourite things!

We’re excited about getting back to both Las Vegas and SuperZoo to meet up with all the pet people we’ve met throughout the years – and finding out what’s new, what’s improved, and what’s classic.

In celebration, dogtrotting.net is offering a contest. Win a box of my dog’s favourite things:

I envy you. I always wanted to go to a big pet event. Harley’s favorite toy are the small oval flat bouncing balls with the faces on them, she cant get enough playtime with them. At one time there were all over my house, since I had brought a package of them. Tressa like the small stuff toys with squeakers, even though she cant hear anymore. She likes small toys that she can carry in her mouth, one of her favorite is the little lamb. She will hide it from her sister. .

    1. Sound like you have a full house. That is so cute… hiding her lamb from her sister! Yes, SuperZoo is one big pet event – it’s industry focused, so it’s essential for retailers with stores.

Springy LOVES anything that squeaks and will play with it for hours.

    1. There are some squeakers in the prize box!

Hi Victoria and Sherri, I’ve never been to Vegas, but I’ve been told it is a must-see. A friend’s fav was The Bellagio. Have fun! Ok, now back to dogs. My gir’s current fav toy is the 14 inch plush grunting Yeti from Tall Tails. She likes to cuddle, tug, fetch, and chew on toys, so just about anything is a good fit for her. That makes shopping easy 🙂
Have fun at SuperZoo. Looking forward to reading your post about what is new! Lily and Dianne

    Hello Victoria!

Miss Peach here from the West Coast. I haven’t been to Las Vegas but wanted to let you know that the Squamish and West Vancouver adventure trails are such fun and with the bridges, wooden stairs and logs, they’re great for agility-training. This morning we did the Coho Loop in the Capilano Canyon, so many meet-and-greets, so much fun flying along the paths. Come out and visit sometime! Your toy package looks terrific and I’d share with my best puppy friend, on-the-double Rubble.
    Your friend,
Miss Peach the duck tolling retriever from Nova Scotia who loves her well-travelled travelling bowls from Dogtrotting.
