Kitchener Pet Festival: Ontario DogLoversDays of Summer 2019

Rarely do I get to Kitchener anymore, but when I do it’s for a dog event – and usually at Bingemans Park. (I will try camping there some time). Dogloversdays was back at Bingemans Marshall Hall July 13 and 14, 2019, 10 am to 4 pm. Indoors (except for dog diving) and free. Yes, free […]

Ruff Ruff. It’s that time of year again: Canadian Christmas Pet Expo Toronto

The Canadian Christmas Pet Expo in Toronto – if you have pets, and haven’t been here yet, you must be in the minority. Twice a year, two units at the International Conventional Centre near the Toronto airport fills with pet-lovers, a lot of dogs and vendors, vendors, vendors selling everything you can think of for […]

Beer Flights, Dog Trails & the Shortest Tail Rule at Dogtober Fest 2018

Trails meander through the woods, and today Dogtober Fest participants are encouraged to participate in a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt. (I only found three items on the list). While giving it our best try, we discover several barbeque grills and picnic tables throughout the site, Muskoka chairs for lounging and watching nature go by, and a newly installed boardwalk weaving its way through the marshier sections of the woods. Most trails lead back to the reserve’s central pond.

Wiggle Waggle Walk 2018 Results Are In!

Whew. Home hours ago from our fifth Wiggle Waggle Walk September 9, 2018 and my dog Victor is sleeping at my feet already. (Check out last year here). Thanks to all who donated to our dogtrotting.net team. Our final tally was $320 … $425 if you include the likely successful silent auction bids I left […]

Kitchener Ontario Pet Festival: Dog Lovers Days Indoor Fido Fun

Yes, another dog festival – only this time it’s about some indoor out-of-the-below-zero-temperature fun for excitable housebound pups of all sizes.

February 10 and 11, 2018 saw hundreds of fur families head to this campground’s conference centre to test their dog’s skill on a number of challenges: Agility Lure Course, Speed Lure Course (which my dog Victor trotted despite being a speed demon everywhere else), and an off-leash play area where Victor peed (sorry).

London, Ontario, Canada, that is. Fanshawe Pioneer Village in London, Ontario is one of those charming historic villages of organized historic buildings – some original […]

End of summer dog adventure blow out Part II: Mutt Masquerade, Stouffville, ON

Then I do what I’ve done before looking for a place in a strange city to let my crazy terrier Victor run free after a long drive: I pull up beside someone walking a dog. Actually, the only person I can find walking a dog. I guess everyone is at the dog park.

I found the Stouffville leash-free park at the end of a dead-end street behind the Walmart plaza, just where he said it would be – only today the road to the dog park is lined with cars. Many cars.

End of summer dog adventure blow out Part I: Dog Tales Festival, King City, ON

Fuchsia, scrolls of white, and gold accent is the colour palette of Dog Tales’ promotional cards, dog kennels and today, the festival. The beautiful grounds of this dog rescue and horse sanctuary are landscaped reminiscent of English Earls – except manicure rose gardens are replaced with fenced dog runs (with ponds) for about eighty happy hounds looking for forever homes.

Travel Toronto, Ontario: Winter Woofstock Lets the Dogs In!

If you don’t understand why people dress their dogs in coats, sweaters, bows and fairy wings, then maybe Winter Woofstock isn’t for you. (Ok, I could go either way on the fairy wings too). But not the jacket, sweater and bows… Welcome to Winter Woofstock! (If it seems to come on the heels of Summer Woofstock, […]

Travel Oxford County, Ontario: Ain’t Nothing Like a Pound Dog

NOTE: The Second Annual Pound Dog HOWLER Fun event is November 6, 2016 at the Snyder’s Farm, Ayr, Ontario. 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. There’s a haunted house here? Ok, this is my kind of farm. I’m at Snyder’s Family Farm in Ayr, Ontario on another adventure with my schnoodle Victor. But we’re not here […]
