Six Silly Breakfast Toys for Dogs You’ll Love

Love breakfast? Me too. If it’s not the most important meal of the day, it’s still my favourite. My dog thinks so too. Maybe that’s why I recently discovered so many fun dog toys reminding me of breakfast in one form or the other.

I found these amusing breakfast dog toys on a recent visit to SuperZoo 2024, a giant annual pet industry super exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada. A side note about Las Vegas: breakfast is often the best value. For instance, the breakfast burrito at Wolf Gang Puck’s in the MGM Grand was awesome and a fraction of the ‘celebrity chef’ dinner prices. Also, you don’t need lunch if you finish the whole thing. And why wouldn’t you?

Another note: I haven’t tried all these toys with my dog. (I’ve indicated where I have). I spent so much time exploring the new and not-so-new fun pet products at SuperZoo that breakfast specials jumped out at me from many different companies. And it’s fun.

Here’s the dogtrotting.net fun guide to breakfast toys for dogs (and one treat).

If there was no reference to avocado toast, I’d be disappointed. I wasn’t disappointed. Giftable World Dog Toys includes a line of breakfast-themed stuffies for dogs including a duo pack of avocado toast and egg toast, and a second option: a duo pack of traditional toast and egg.

My Dog’s Review? These soft plushy toys are cute – however, don’t last long. My dog didn’t review the avocado toast, but my neighbour’s small dachshund did and the results weren’t positive. The small dog simply carried the toy in his mouth and the seam ripped open. Sewing was required seconds after the toy left the package.

If grill cheese is more your style – yes, this is a go-to breakfast staple in my house – Doggijuanna has a gooey looking grill cheese from the Tuffer Chewer line. (It only looks gooey). Like all Doggijuanna products (see here), it comes with a vial of Juananip (the company’s catnip for dogs) to refill the toy. This one has rope inside and is double stitched around the edges for added durability.

My dog’s review? The Tuffer Chewer line is much more durable than the regular line of Doggijuanna toys, and will last several refills, especially because juananip has a calming effect on pups. The squeaker, however, induces a very different response. My dog spent a lot of time playing with the Doggijuanna grilled cheese and liked that she could fold it.

WagsDale has a line of ‘Food Junkie’ dog toys that includes ‘Barking Donuts’ coffee bag. I’ve included it here because for some people one cup of coffee counts as breakfast. However, the Food Junkie line does include plenty of other food items, including stuffie hot sauce packages.

If a less healthy breakfast is more your style, a new product line showcased at SuperZoo was the Hostess line of plush dog toys shaped like a brown cupcake (with classic white squiggle), the Twinkie, and more. Each with a pull rope attached.

P.L.A.Y. dog toys has partnered with iHop – yes, the former International House of Pancakes – to produce iHop-inspired plush dog toys. Calling the product line a ‘breakfast to bark about,’ the company offers a choice of a dish of bacon, potato, and eggs, iHOP coffee cup, and (of course) a stack of pancakes. All soft, squishy, and ready to sink your (dog’s) teeth into.

If your dog wants real pancakes, Rondi’s Kitchen has that covered too. Granted, this company is not the first to launch a pancake mix for dogs. (We enjoyed dog pancakes after an adventure to Mountsberg Conservation Area). But this pancake mix is organic and includes bone broth.

Rondi’s Kitchen started in the baby food busy, and organic superfood pancake mix for dogs seemed a natural segue. This soon-to-be-released pancake mix comes in six varieties including Chicken and Pumpkin and Chicken and Peanut Butter. Flavours only a dog would love. (We once indulged in a dog waffle brunch of our own).

There you go, folks … barkfast is served.
