Sweet Hearts for Your (Furry) Sweet Heart
Quick easy little hearts and a way to use an over-ripe banana to boot, here’s one of the easiest dog treat recipes I’ve discovered yet – or maybe I’m getting better at baking for barkers.
Thanks to the lazypitbull.com for the basis of this recipe, I added the apple sauce to complement the bananas, moisten the batter and use up some apple sauce I had in the fridge.
Plus, instead of opening an entire can of pumpkin, I added a package of Weruva pumpkin, an intended supplement for both cats and dogs. The package is – almost – ¼ cup.
Ingredients:
1 ripe banana
¼ cup of pumpkin or package of Werunva pumpkin
1/8 cup apple sauce
½ cup of coconut flour (Amazon.com affiliate link)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.
Mush a ripe banana in a bowl. Add pumpkin and apple sauce. Mix together then gradually add the flour to form a dough.
Roll out the dough (with some flour) ¼ inch flat and cut shapes. I cut small hearts for smaller dog bites.
Bake for about 15 minutes. Smaller cookies bake quicker. Flip half way or the bottom might burn.
