Experience Dog-Friendly Fun at 100 Kellogg Lane

“We’re in the Kellogg’s Centre,” Chris Coulthard from B & T Pets told me recently at the Dorchester Pet Festival. Honestly, I hadn’t heard about the 100 Kellogg Lane – it had been years since I’d been to London, Ontario. The Hard Rock Hotel opened there in May 2025. And it’s dog-friendly, he added. Clearly, I was motivated to check it out with my pup.

100 Kellogg Lane in London

First, what’s 100 Kellogg Lane? I didn’t know either, so after spending a few hours at Pawlooza 2025 – the first time I took my current spaniel to one of the biggest pet festivals in Canada – I detoured through the heart of London, Ontario, to visit 100 Kellogg Lane, or what others call the Kellogg Centre.

Did we have breakfast? No, as you might guess, Kellogg and all its associated cornflakes, are no longer here. After manufacturing cereal in a huge industrial building near Dundas Street East in London, Ontario, since 1904, the company closed its operation in 2014. One hundred and ten years of production in this city – you can imagine the hole this empty building represented.

History of 100 Kellogg Lane

In 1905, the then Canadian-founded company began producing a product called “Kellogg Toasted Corn Flakes” based on the recipe Dr. J.H. Kellogg formulated. In 1924, Dr. Kellogg bought the factory for $1 million dollars, renaming it the Kellogg Company of Canada. By 1964, the site was producing 16 different cereal brands. By 1986, it produced 750,000 boxes of cereal a day.

By 2014, the factory closed due to a decline in cereal sales. It was a huge employment loss, and almost 1 million square feet of empty building space remained. In 2016, a private company, The Cribbage Group, a partnership between two families, purchased the site with the vision to transform it into an entertainment space. Hopefully, rejuvenating London’s East End.

What’s at 100 Kellogg Lane now that’s not dog-friendly?

  • The London Children’s Museum relocated from a charming location inside a former school
  • The Factory indoor adventure park has ziplines and a trampoline park
  • The Club House offers indoor sports like golf, along with a lounge

What’s at 100 Kellogg Lane that is dog-friendly?

  • The pet-friendly Hard Rock Hotel opened in 2025. The accommodations, shop, and lobby museum/artifacts are all dog friendly. In fact, the gift store lured us in with dog treats. Green space is in the front, with a bag dispenser and a can for easy clean up. In room pet fee is $100 per visit.
  • The Hard Rock’s restaurant, Sessions, has a dog-friendly outdoor patio. (Look for the statuesque rooster).
  • Paradigm Spirits Co., celebrates history by transforming cereal grains used by Kellogg into liquor and beer. The outdoor courtyard area near the distillery is dog-friendly.
  • The Powerhouse Brewing Company’s outdoor patio and picnic tables in the courtyard are all dog-friendly. (see details below)
  • The two levels of shops inside 100 Kellogg Lane building, including B & T Pets offering single ingredient, novel protein treats for cats and dogs, are mostly pet-friendly.

Dog-friendly Shopping at 100 Kellogg Lane

Inside the 100 Kellogg Lane building, I had no issue walking around with my dog. We entered through the Hard Rock Hotel front entrance, then turned left and after a short walk, you’ll be on the second floor of the building’s shopping area. Starbucks is the biggest attraction here, along with Shaw’s Ice Cream, a Canadian company we discovered while exploring dog-friendly Tillsonburg, Ontario.

There’s still a lot of store space to fill, so more potential for pet-friendly vendors. For now, the property managers have filled it with local art exhibitions. ART COMP (running until September 7, 2025) was up while we were there. ART COMP claims to be Canada’s largest art competition. Selected pieces filled empty store spaces and hallway walls.

Pet Treats at 100 Kellogg Lane

B & T Pets is located on the first floor, level with the building entrance if you park across the street. B & T Pets, a Canadian company, offers single-ingredient, novel protein dehydrated pet treats made in nearby Lucan, Ontario. Most proteins used are sourced from Canada; Australian kangaroo is the exception.

What’s a novel protein? Well, here your dog can chew on Walleye fish, boar, seal, trout, bison, elk, and emu. In fact, the company offers 12 different protein sources. My dog might be more traditional – Duck Beats (dehydrated duck hearts) are her favourite so far. Single-ingredient treats are good for pets with allergies, because it’s easy to avoid the ingredients that cause reactions.

Canadian Medical Hall of Fame

Across from the B & T Pets retail outlet is the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame, also relocated here from another location. Granted, it’s mostly plaques of Canadian doctors featuring sketches of faces and an explanation of why these medical professionals have been included in the country’s hall of fame.

It’s surprisingly interesting to learn how many game-changing medical discoveries are linked to Canada. (One of the best known is insulin. The Banting House National Historic Site, which tells the story of this discovery, is located in London, Ontario. However, dogs can’t go inside). However, because the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame is located in the hallway between retail outlets, your dog can be with you should the geeky fascination move you as it did me.

Dog-friendly Powerhouse Brewing Company

In my opinion, the main reason to venture out to 100 Kellogg Lane with your dog is to hang out on the courtyard patio with your pup at the Powerhouse Brewing Company. Like most brew houses, it has a chill vibe, especially outside (check out our Regina tour here), but unlike a lot of places, they bring a water bowl for your pup without asking.

My precious spaniel hung out comfortably under the table within reach of her water – after causing chaos at Pawlooza, she needed to cool down and relax. (At Pawlooza dog festival, my dog discovered she can push under the barriers around the leash-free zone and headed straight into the lure course – her absolute obsession). Twice. She escaped the leash-free zone twice. Fortunately, two jumps in the dock diving competition burned off some energy.

When we finally settled down at the Powerhouse, she comfortably sat with me while I enjoyed a light citrus Porch Gazer Witbier because I avoid hops and IPA. Other selections include Static Pilsner, Generator India Pale Ale, and Low Voltage Cream Ale. Notice an electrical theme? That’s because The Powerhouse is located in the original energy-generating building that supplied power to the Kellogg’s factory for a century.

The menu includes easy beer foods: hot dog, warm pretzel, pulled-pork sandwiches, and my choice – baked mac and cheese made with beer.

Pups of Powerhouse

Even better, visiting pups will likely see their pics posted on the ‘pups of powerhouse’ Instagram account. Yes, that’s the account dedicated to the fur babies that visit, and there are many of them, considering Powerhouse Brewing Company hosts a Pups & Pints Power Pup Social every Sunday from 1 to 5 pm, May to September. A different dog breed is announced each week, but all are welcome.

Special note: Sunday, September 14th, 2025, from 1 to 5 pm is a special Pups & Pints event – a fundraiser for Happy’s Place Retirement Home for Dogs. Theme that Sunday is senior dogs, any breed.
