Dog festivals are everywhere – and so are festivals allowing dogs. Dogtrotting.net has been compiling an expanding list of dog events across Canada (and now the U.S.) and that list is expanding yearly to include neighbourhood and regional events filling fields and street parking lots (check out Liberty Village in Toronto here) like pop-up shops […]
August 10, 2019 was the date of Wiener-paw-looz-a in Hamilton, Ontario, the annual fundraiser for the Ontario chapter of the Canadian Dachshund Rescue, a volunteer-run charity dedicated to rescuing homeless and surrendered Dachshund and Dachshund-crosses. Animals are pulled from shelters, or saved from puppy mills, and fostered until forever homes area found.
Sudbury, Ontario. Admittedly, not a common destination to pack up the car and head to. But stopping on the way to somewhere even further north … why not? If you’ve got the dog with you, there’s a few places to go, though the two main attractions – Science North (100 Ramsey Lake Road) and Dynamic […]

I found the Stouffville leash-free park at the end of a dead-end street behind the Walmart plaza, just where he said it would be – only today the road to the dog park is lined with cars. Many cars.
Fuchsia, scrolls of white, and gold accent is the colour palette of Dog Tales’ promotional cards, dog kennels and today, the festival. The beautiful grounds of this dog rescue and horse sanctuary are landscaped reminiscent of English Earls – except manicure rose gardens are replaced with fenced dog runs (with ponds) for about eighty happy hounds looking for forever homes.
