February 9, 2020 – Westie Indoor Play Day, Orangeville

Most small dogs are not big fans of  winter weather and Westies are no exception. This is an indoor FUNdraising event with lots of space for your dog to run around and have fun off leash while you check out the fabulous sales table. Westies in Need Rescue always have great stuff for sale.  Join the group for a good run around with other Westies and Westie Wannabees on Sun. February 9, 2020 – Puppy Love Event, Toronto

Hosted by Toronto Dog Moms, Puppy Love ticketed event will celebrate Valentines Day for Dog Lovers. Brunswick Brierworks, 25 Curity Ave., Toronto, 1 to 5 pm. Admission in advance is $5 or $10 at the door.

March 13 to 15, 2020 –  Orangeville Kennel Club Dog Show, 

Missed Westminster? See the breeds you love at the Orangeville Kennel Club Dog Show. Free admission, but only dogs entered in the show are allowed in. Orangeville Fairgrounds, 247090 Side Road 5, Mono, Ontario. 8 am to 5 pm.

April 10, 2020 – Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs in Oakville,  Brampton, Calgary (Alberta), Guelph, Kitchener, London, St.Catharines and Windsor

A fundraiser for National Service Dogs, this annual event started in Oakville in 1998 and has spread to other cities on Good Friday every year. Participants collect pledges and are given two egg cartons to collect up to 24 plastic eggs containing dog treats. One leashed dog per participant welcome. $25 per family. www.nsd.on.ca

April 10 to 12, 2020 – Spring Canadian Pet Expo, Mississauga

Found a friend while docked at McDonald Island in the 1000 Islands

Toronto looks forward to the annual Spring Canadian Pet Expo. This pet related trade show is held annually Easter Weekend at the International Centre near the Toronto airport. Pets are welcome and it’s host to Canada’s largest Cat Show, Ontario Cavy Club Show, Jock Dogs, Dog Lovers Days Lure Course and Air Dog performances. Bring your dog to the dog to this expo focusing on primarily vendors but presentations too from Canine Good Neighbour, Woof Jocks and a pet costume contest. May 2, 2020 – Barkbash2020, Toronto

Vendors, live entertainment, activities and pet-friendly vendors, the annual Barkbash (formally BarkWorks) has a goal of attracting at least 350 dogs at the event.  Tickets are $15. The Bentway (2000 foot stretch of land under the Gardinar Expressway), Toronto. 10 am to 5 pm.

May 2, 2020 – Park & Bark, Toronto

Park & Bark is a street party along Yonge and Davisville Streets in Toronto. Called a “puppy party,” it has dog product and service vendors, speakers, sampling, contest and music as you walk your leashed dog along a city street. Yonge and Davisville, Toronto. Free. 9 am to 3 pm.buster with cookie

May 9, 2020 – Petapolooza, Pickering

The 9th annual Petapolooza is hosted by the City of Pickering to raise funds to build a permanent animal shelter in the city. The day includes WoofJock and agility demonstrations, 40 vendors and rescue groups present and food trucks. Head to the Upper Leash Free Area at Grand Valley Park, West end of Concession #3, Pickering. 11 am to 4 pm. Dogs welcome. Admission $5 per person.

May ?, 2020 – Barks by the Bay, Trenton

Barks by the Bay Canine Festival and Trade Show is a popular outdoor pet festival that’s Fido friendly and full of vendors, breeders, training aids and demonstrations, pet look-a-like contest and groomers on site. Centennial Park, Trenton, Ontario. 9 am to 4 pm. www.barksbythebay.ca 

May 30, 2020 – Pet Lovers’ Market, Ancaster (Hamilton)

Hamilton’s latest pet event full of handmade products for pets and people. Local suppliers and services in attendance – curated event. Ancaster Fairgrounds, 630 Trinity Road South, Jerseyville (Ancaster). 10 am to 5 pm. Free parking. (no pets)

May 30 and 31, 2020 – Niagara Pet Expo, Niagara Falls

The Niagara Pet Expo is back for a third year (check out our experience here). Niagara Falls will see a conference centre filled with pet vendors, demonstrations and Aqua Dogs Dock Diving outside. June ? , 2020 – Paws for the Cause, Hamilton

The third annual Paws for the Cause local animal festival in support of Pantry Four Paws pet rescue is a go. Head to the park for a charity BBQ, vendor market and raffle prizes. Pets welcome. 10 am to 4 pm. Montgomery Park, 1570 Main Street E., Hamilton.

June 7,  2020 – Furry Friends 5K, Oshawa

One of three annual runs, Furry Friends 5K dog-friendly race (walk or run) that you can participate in with your pup. The event supports local animal rescue groups, shelters, and humane groups. (If you can’t make the event, you can sponsor someone who is participating). Cost to participate with your dog is $45. www.furryfriends5k.ca

June ? , 2020 – Pound Dog HOWLer fundraiser and family day, New Dumfries

This event is a family-focused fun day at the farm and fundraiser for Pound Dogs Rescue. A group walk around the grounds starts at 10:30 and there’s demonstrations, silent auction and vendors. June ?, 2020 – Sarnia SPCA Dog Festival, Sarniadoggie paddle 4

A new dog festival in the area and fundraising effort for the Sarnia-Lambton SPCA. Located on the 50-acre property of Fox and Hound Retreat, the festival includes doggie activities such as agility zone, 42-foot diving pool, and Jack Russell races (move over wiener dogs). 10 am to 4 pm. June 6 and 7, 2020 – Woofstock, Toronto

Apparently, it’s earlier this year – actually in the summer Canada’s best known dog festival, Woofstock, is celebrating  17 years this time at Woodbine Park in Toronto’s trendy beaches. Admission is free and dogs are of course welcome. Join tens of thousands of other pet lovers for this two-day event of vendors, demonstrations, fashion show and fun. June ?, 2020 – Bark in the Park, London

The 34th annual fundraiser for the London Human Society includes: Dog lure course, Sparky’s dock diving, Ultimutts Stunt Dog performances, Cruisin’ Paws Agility shows, Off-leash pond area, Bouncy castles, Silent auction, 50/50 Raffle and dozens of unique product and food vendors. June ?, 2020 – Woofapalooza, Vaughan

Woofapalooza is an annual outdoor pet festival featuring pet exhibits, givaways, fashion contests, agility demonstrations and off-leash play area, so bring your dogs. Woodbridge Fairgrounds, 100 Porter Ave., Vaughan. 10 am – 4 pm. www.woofapalooza.com

June 14, 2020 – Furry Friends 5K, Bolton/Caledon

June ?, 2020 – Poochie Power Walk, Cambridgedog at Dog Bowl 2019 Frankenmuth, Michigan

The annual Poochie Power Walk and Family Fun Day benefits the Cambridge Humane Society. Gather some pledges then you and your dog can join the fun – raffles, vendors, food trucks and Team K9 choreographed show of agility and obedience. 10 am to 2 pm. Riverside Park, King Street, Cambridge, Ontario.

June 27, 2020 – Wienerfest, Woodstock

Wienerfest Home County Festival in Woodstock, Ontario celebrates all things dog and dachshund in the form of a fundraiser for local shelters. According to the website, Wienerfest Home County Festival is Canada’s largest breed specific event, focused on Dachshunds. It’s a free family and dog-friendly event, that provide funding for pet rescue and raises awareness for the plight of abandoned and abused animals in Canada.There will be many fun events, such as the ever popular Dachshund Races, as well as costume contests, and professional photo opportunities with the “wienermobile.” All breeds of dogs welcome at the Pittock Conservation Area, Woodstock, Ontario. www.wienerfest.ca.

June 20, 2020 – Homeward Bound Canine Carnival, Bowmanville

Homeward Bound Rescue sponsors the annual Canine Carnival that includes Dock Diving, Dog Lovers Days Lure Course, K9 fit workouts, Agility Demonstrations, weight pulling, Annual Doggie Fashion Show and Costume Contest and of course many vendors. 2836 Holt Road, Bowmanville, Ontario. 10 am to 4 pm. www.homewardboundrescue.ca

June 27 to 28, 2020 – Annual Ruff Mudder, Collingwoodturmeric dog treats dogtrotting.net

The 4th Annual Ruff Mudder Canine Obstacle Adventure 5km obstacle course for you and your dog is on again. That’s right, you can run a 5k with your dog over 80+ obstacles through forest and field. Then chill out at the largest Doga Class – yoga with your dog. This year, hopes are high to set a Guinness World Book of Records for the largest doga class.  $60 per person for Mudder, 4 for $120 and a pack of 10 is $500. Participating in Doga  at 1 pm is free. 6725 Hwy 26, Stayner.

June ?, 2020 – Grimsby Annual Mutt Show, Grimsbydog at selfie station at Dog Bowl 2019 Frankenmuth, Michigan

An annual community event celebrating mutts, the most common family breed. Registration begins at 6 pm and the show begins at 6:30 pm until 7:30 pm. Each dog may enter up to three categories such as most unique, best trick, and best costume. Prizes for first, second and third. Dogs must be on leash. Coronation Park, Main Street West, Grimsby. 6 pm to 7:30 pm.

July 1, 2020 – Beautiful Joe Ultimutts Stunt Dog Show, Meaford

In the scenic region of Georgian Bay, The Beautiful Joe Heritage Society is hosting an Ultimutts Stunt Dog Show along with pet experts, trainers, vendors, a pet toy exchange and doggie ice cream. Also available are tours of the park named after an abused then rescued dog made famous in a series of 1940s books. Beautiful Joe Park, 162 Edwin Street, Meaford, Ontario. noon to 4 pm. Admission is free or by donation to a rescue.

July, 4 & 5 2020 – Rescue RoundUp Dog Event, Colborne

Love Jack Russells and other small dogs? The Rescue Roundup Dog Event is for you. Organized by Jack Russell rescue, this event brings Jacks and other little rescue dogs (under 16 inches) for some friendly competitions in an number of categories including barn hunt, lure course, ball retrieve and of course the emotional ‘parade of rescues.’ Please preregister by June 12. 11891 Country Rd 2, Colborne, Ontario.

July 11 & 12, 2020 – Muddy Paws Wine Festival, Vineland

Picture it:  a 15-mintue walk along the Bruce Trail through the Niagara Forest and at both ends is a winery – that’s the Muddy Paws event at Vineland Estates Winery 3620 Moyer Road, Vineland and Featherstone Estate Winery, 3678 Victoria Ave., Vineland. Start at either winery, walk the trail to the other with your well-behaved leashed dog and enjoy a glass of vino at each end, along with music, food sampling, NRP K9 Unit, and obedience training demos by Dave McHahon’s Dog Academy. 12 to 5 pm. The 17th annual Dog Days of Scugog, Durham’s largest dog event  taking place at the museum from 9 am to 4 pm. August 8, 2020 – Tails of the Mountain Festival, Grey Highlands

First annual Tails of the Mountain Pet Festival featuring pet related vendors and animal rescue groups – all on a The Farmer’s House, a scenic 100-acre property in the Grey Highlands area. August ?, 2020 – Paws in the Park – Toronto

At Paws in the Park is the Toronto Humane Society’s largest annual fundraiser. Bring your dog and participate in a charity dog walk, pet photo booths, face painting, training sessions, and even a scavenger hunt. According to organizers, Paws in the Park is one of Toronto’s most popular animal events. Pets available for adoption on site. Woodbine Park, 1695 Queen St., E., Toronto, 9 am to 4 pm. August *, 2020 – Wiener-Paw-Looza, Hamilton

A ‘wienerific’ dog event in support of Canadian Dachshund Rescue of Ontario (CDRO) including wiener dog races, games and costumes, BBQ food, raffles, silent auction and shopping. All dogs welcome, not just wieners. 11 am to 3 pm. Confederation Park, 585 Van Wagners Beach, Hamilton.

August 7 to 9, 2020 – Kingston Sheep Dog Trials Festival, Kingston

August 8, 2020 – Hugs for Hounds, Elora, Ontario

Want to see your Greyhound Run? This fundraiser for Dog Rescue takes place inside a race track and Greyhound owners can resister their dogs for a fun run or enter any other breed for additional races organized by size. Otherwise, enjoy the festival and barbeque – advanced tickets are recommended. Pets are welcome but no retractable leashes. A silent auction and live art auction are also planned. The annual Wiggle Waggle Walk fundraiser for the Hamilton-Burlington SPCA takes place from 10 am to 2 pm along Hamilton’s Bayfront Park. September ?, 2020 – Bark & Splash, London

The park’s wave pool is transformed in the city’s largest dog pool.  Purchase timed tickets for $10 in advance. All tickets for 30- minute sessions. Noon to 12:30 is for small dogs only, others 12:45 to 3:30 pm. Waves are not activated in the pool and people are not allowed in the water. Registration for the Westie Walk & Fun Day begins at 10:00 am. The Westie Walk is followed by our Parade of Rescues, Races, Contests, Silent Auction, Shopping & Cake. Bring your dog to Fanshawe Pioneer Village for A Day for Dogs. Join other pups of Campbellville on September 29, 2019, for the inaugural Barkfest of Campbellville, Ontario in support of Northern Reach Rescue Network- Southern Connection. Activities include a dog costume contest, dog photographer, dog training demonstrations by Family Pet Services, dog grooming demonstration and a Mohawk Chop House and Horsemen’s Lounge BBQ.
