If you are anywhere near Rockton, Ontario this weekend (October 12 to 14, 2019), you can. But the window is small:

Dogs and volunteers from the Canadian National Service Dog (NSD) association will be visiting Pavlo Pottery, Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 10 am to noon (only two hours, so as not to overwhelm the pups).

Why National Service Dogs?

Pavlo Pottery has been raising money for the NSD by producing handmade mugs with NSD logo for two years. They are officially 2/3 of the way to raising $10,000 for the organization the provides service dogs to those with Autism and PTSD.

According to Bob Evans, of Pavlo Pottery, “We are about to kick off the final push during The Rockton World’s Fair Thanksgiving 2019 weekend, and the weekend of our Annual Glorious Imperfections (Seconds) Sale.”National Service Dog mugs from Pavlo Pottery dogtrotting.net

Mugs sell for $30 each plus tax, with total proceeds before tax going to the NSD. Any mugs left over after the weekend will be available at the store located at 776 Old Highway #8, Rockton and open Monday to Saturday, 10:30 am to 5 pm; Sunday, noon to 5 pm.

When is The Rockton World’s Fair?

This Canadian Thanksgiving weekend marks the 130th year of the popular Rockton World’s Fair running October 12 to 14, 2019. Check out our adventures first meeting Pavlo Pottery on our way to the fair in 2017 and my dog Victor’s first cow poop encounter here. Love horses? Got that covered on horsetrotting.net too.

Westfield Heritage Village 7Unfortunately, as of this year, The Rockton World’s Fair is no longer dog-friendly. Only licensed service dogs are permitted, and those entering the pet contest (and even the latter must leave after the competition). Saddened at the loss of the doggie love.

However … you can still visit nearby Westfield Heritage Village with your well-behaved leashed dog and experience the historically punctuated fall colours. Check out our visit here.
