Recipe: Turtle Dog Treats with Coconut Milk

coconutturtledogtreats from dogtrotting.netRecipe: ‘Turtle’ Dog Treats with Coconut Milk

Coconut milk is fine for dogs to drink (or in this case, eat) and is a good substitute for dairy milk, which most dogs shouldn’t consume. Some sources suggest coconut milk helps a dog’s immune system and GI tract, but that’s still not conclusive. What is true is that coconut milk doesn’t hurt, and it’s creamier than water.

What you need:

1 ¼ cups brown flour

¼ cup peanut butter

½ cup oats

½ cup coconut milk

Over-ripe banana

What to do:

Mix all ingredients in one bowl until it forms a workable ball of dough. Then, on a floured surfaced, roll out the dough to ¼ thick – if you’ve made dog treats before, you’ve done this already.

Place on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. I pressed a slice of banana onto the centre of each flower. Turns out, banana caramelizes a bit in the oven.

Bake at 350F for 10 to 15 minutes. Allow to cool.

I got 12 flowers from this recipe – or as someone pointed out online ‘turtles.’ Flower shapes with bananas on top apparently look like turtles.

So, I’m calling these Turtle Dog Treats with Coconut Milk Chaser.
