Happy Wolfenoot! November 23 is the first annual celebration (hopefully) of Wolfenoot embraced by dog lovers around the world. That’s right. Around the world. If you are kind to dogs, Wolfenoot is for you.

Wolfenoot was created by a 7-year-old boy in New Zealand and shared by his mother, writer Jax Goss, on social media. The idea hit a cord with canine parents in a big way because this ‘holiday’ celebrates being good to dogs.

Here are the details:

According to the creator, on November 23 the spirit of the Great Wolf rewards those who’ve been good to dogs all year with gifts. Recipients celebrate by eating a full-moon shaped cake and roast meat (like a wolf, though vegetarian options are ok. Phew). Donating to dog rescues is strongly encouraged.

How did I celebrate Wolfenoot?

First, being kind to my crazy cocker-cross dog Victor, of course.

Second, baking Wolfenoot peanut butter/beef broth dog treat packages and distributing to pup parents at work. (Be good to me Great Wolf Spirit). Recipe to below.

Third, attending the Christmas Canadian Pet Expo in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, November 24 and 25, 2018. (Post to follow…. Stay tuned).

Wolfenoot Peanut Butter Beef Broth Dog Treats

2 cups of whole wheat flour

1 cup of dog peanut butter (Yes, there is such a thing. Check out where I bought it).

1 100 ml jar of beef broth baby food (make sure it contains no onions)

1 tablespoon of baking powder

½ to 1 cup of water (add slowly more as needed depending on dough)

Preheat oven to 375F.

Mix flour and baking powder and mix.

Add peanut butter, then baby food and mix together.

Add water slowly until a malleable dough ball forms.

Sprinkle a flat surface with some flour and roll out the dough with a rolling-pin to about ¼ inch thick.

Use cookie cutter to cut shapes. I used small bones, paws and fire hydrant shapes from a Celebration set (check it out on Amazon – affiliate link). My treats were small so baking time as 10 minutes but might be 15 minutes if your treats are bigger.

Place on a parchment paper cover baking sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes. Cool.
