Peanut Butter and Oat Balls for Dogs

“What’s cooking?” is the first thing people will ask expectantly when these fragrant ‘cookies’ are baking for Fido, likely thanks to the cinnamon. Again, these are easy and require no rolling or cutting.

We have our friends at twolittlecavaliers.com to thank for the basis of this recipe, though I modified it adding more peanut butter – my dog Victor likes his peanut butter – and then had to add more oaks to maintain the necessary consistency.

The yield is ideal, though – about ten bite sized dog bits ideal for one cocker-cross to consume in a few days … or one day with a little help from his friends.

Ingredients:

¾ cup of oats

1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon

2 tablespoons of smooth peanut butter

½ tablespoon of water

1 large egg

½ teaspoon of honey

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Combine all ingredients in the order listed. I mixed the dry ingredients first then mix in the rest, one item at a time. Stir well and completely coat the oats.

You’ll have a goopy messy but not too runny to use a tablespoon to drop dollops onto the cookie sheet.

Bake for about 20 minutes and but keep an eye on the bottoms which can burn easily thanks to the extra peanut butter.

Victor ate these with some enthusiasm .. he doesn’t always. But peanut butter is his jam.
