Looking forward to summer with the pooch? There’s enough dog-friendly festivals around that you don’t have to leave him at home. Mark your calendar!

Here is the 2015 list of dog-related events and festivals coming up in Ontario and other parts of Canada. May 30, 2015 – Dogs 4 Youth in Grimsby, Grimsby

Dogs 4 Youth claims to be the biggest dog marketplace in Niagara, featuring vendors from across the region. Live entertainment, delicious food, and everything your furry friend could ever want. Adult tickets are just $5, Students and seniors $3, and kids 12 and under are FREE! All proceeds go to helping the FORT youth centre, an organization that provides free programming for youth ages 11-18 in Grimsby, Smithville, and Caistor. Dog Lovers Days will also be providing entertainment. It runs 11 am to 4pm at the Peach King Centre, 162 Livingston Ave., Grimsby, Ontario.

June  6 & 7, 2015 – Dog Lovers Days Festival, North Bay

June 13, 2015 – Dog Lovers Days Festival, Woodstock

June 13, 2015 – Simcoe County Pup Cake Dog Festival, Collingwood

An annual event and fundraiser for animal shelters, it’s held at the Collingwood Historical Heritage Village, 879 Sixth St., Collingwood, Ontario. $5 per person and $10 per family. June 20, 2015 – Wienerfest, Embro

Wienerfest Home County Festival in Embro, Ontario celebrates all things dog and dachshund in the form of a fundraiser for local shelters. According to the website, Wienerfest Home County Festival is Canada’s largest breed specific event, focused on Dachshunds. It’s a free family and dog-friendly event, that provide funding for pet rescue and raises awareness for the plight of abandoned and abused animals in Canada.There will be many fun events, such as the ever popular Dachshund Races, as well as costume contests, and professional photo opportunities with the “wienermobile.” Dog Lovers Days will also be providing entertainment. June 20, 2015, Woof-fit Mini-Triathlon, Toronto

Only 75 dog/person teams will be competing in this triathlon fundraiser for a dog cancer fund, part of the University of Guelph’s Veterinary College and Teaching Hospital Pet Trust. Teams start with a 2km walk/run; followed by a 2 km cycle/blade/roll and end with a 500 metre swim/wade/paddle on the beach between two breakwaters. All fitness levels are welcome but participants are required to raise a minimum of $100. The race begins at 10 am at Balmy Beach, Toronto. facebook.com/woofFitMiniTriathlon.

June 21, 2015, Woofwich Pet Show/Dog Lovers Days Festival, Elmira

Leashed dogs are welcome at this pet and vendors show. $5 per person and kids under 10 are free at the Woolwich Memorial Centre, 24 Synder Ave, 10 am to 5 pm, woofwichpetshow.ca. Dog Lovers Days will also be there – it offers three interactive lure courses to get your dog active, along with a Doggie Play Zone, Pamper Zone and Health and Wellness Centre. http://www.dogloversdays.com.

Dogs Days celebrates the unique bond between dogs and their people. Visit local breeders and explore various vendors for unique gifts for your dog. Pets welcome. Admission is $7 adults, $5 children 5 to 12, and a family pass is $20 (unlimited both days). Dog Lovers Days will also be providing entertainment. Location is the Scugog Shores Museum, 16210 Island Rd., Port Perry.

June 27 & 28, 2015 – Dog Lovers Days Festival, Chatham
